My grandson Landon and I had a fantastic time at the Oshkosh EAA Airventure recently. More than 10,000 airplanes on one airfield. I love this F86-F jet and always wanted to fly it but was too young Haha. They had retired them all by the time I came onboard.
Then I got the opportunity to listen to an American hero, Tuskegee Airman, Col. Charles McGee. World War II fighter pilot of the Red Tail Squadron, he flew more combat missions for the US Air Force than any other person—WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. This amazing man is 98 years old and speaking like a professional—sharing his inspirational story. Honored to be here at EAA in the presence of these pioneers.
